Resilient Scotland is pleased to announce a package of investment to Firstport for their social franchise concept, Ditto. Ditto is an off the shelf product that helps people set up and run a social enterprise using tried and tested business models, from pre-loved baby goods shops to community cafes. This initial injection of capital from Resilient Scotland will allow Firstport to launch Ditto in both Dundee and Fife; with two further areas to follow later in the year.
Firstport and Resilient Scotland share the belief that social entrepreneurship can play a role in strengthening, regenerating and creating sustainable communities. Firstport have exciting plans to raise awareness and mobilise local, committed individuals to take up a package from the Ditto bank of ideas and start benefiting themselves and those around them. Individuals will be supported by expert advisors and will get the chance to apply for seed funding to get the idea off the ground.
Ditto is a social replication product developed by Firstport, the leading provider of support to new start social enterprises in Scotland. Launched in 2013 to rave reviews, Ditto has already helped over a dozen individuals to set up new social enterprises across Scotland, reducing set up times and avoiding common mistakes. These social enterprises have created local jobs, volunteering places and encouraged people to use and develop local assets.
Mike Grigor, Chair of Resilient Scotland said: “Resilient Scotland is pleased to be the inaugural investor in Ditto. Through the support provided by Firstport, budding social entrepreneurs will have a real opportunity to contribute to the regeneration of their local area. We see these entrepreneurs as being future key participants in the fast growing Scottish social investment market”.
