Welcome to the first blog on our new look website and as the Head of Resilient Scotland I am delighted to be given the opportunity to write our inaugural entry. In the coming months we will feature a range of guest bloggers from the worlds of social investment and community regeneration, giving them the opportunity to speak about what matters to them most.
The management of the JESSICA (Scotland) Trust gives Resilient a huge opportunity to play a key role in the fast emerging world of social investment. In the last year alone we have invested over £600,000 in a range of exciting organisations through Start & Grow, a few of these are featured here.
Resilient is keen to invest in organisations to help them to shape and have an impact on their community for the future. We want our injection of capital to be a key factor that enables them to demonstrate their enterprising abilities and give them the confidence to influence and collaborate with others working towards the regeneration of their areas.
In the coming year we will provide investment through Making Enterprise Happen, giving community organisations and social enterprises access to flexible and bespoke capital that will enable them to realise their true potential. We want to work with organisations to understand the financial barriers that are blocking them from unlocking true community regeneration in their area.
Social investment may not be at the top of many lists as organisations seek out potential sources of finance; but through our work we hope that this will begin to change. Investments with a social and financial return are growing both in Scotland and the UK as a whole; and we want to help communities make the most of our social investments packages and wider opportunities.
Our new website is only the first of many steps as we set out to build our profile and ramp up our investment activity. I’ll use my final few words just to say this, if you are based in our eligible areas, need flexible investment coupled with support to help you realise your ambition then get in touch, we will always do our best to help.
